Food was amazing. We loved everything we tried. I’m not sure if I can have just one favorite, but the corn korokke and the Okonomiyaki were amazingg. Service was above and beyond!

I tried a number of dishes here and all of them were delicious. My favorite would most likely be the takoyaki which while only 4 was one of the best in the triangle. The kaarage had an amazing crunch and flavor but I wish the sauce was just regular kewpie mayo instead of the specialty one they had. The bun was excellent with great sauce and plenty of meat For the ramen I thought it was a really good tonkotsu broth but what really made it exceptional was the special spicy paste they have you need that paste it’s so good. That gave it such an amazing flavor and spice. Only half an egg which is annoying but still had great flavor and color. Meat was perfectly cooked and flavored with two pieces which is great. The noodles were also cooked perfectly which really made this ramen a delight to eat. Overall biggest problems is price of apps really expensive for the amount you receive. And they don’t have any sake besides the run of mill hot sake you can get everywhere which is sad. Also no Sapporo :(

The food especially the udon noodles are the best in the RTP area in my opinion!! I went there for two days in a row. The service is great and it’s a good place to enjoy Japanese foods. They also have bento boxes and many yummy appetizers. Love it so much! Will come back when I’m craving for udon noodles.

Shinmai is a cozy yet refined spot that nails the balance between great ambiance and even better food. The Chicken Cury Don was melt-in-your-mouth tender and the best tempura I’ve ever had in my life. Service was friendly and attentive, and dessert—macha affogato—ended the meal on a high note. Perfect for date nights or a relaxed dinner with friends. Highly recommended.

A cozy restaurant serving many traditional Japanese dishes ranging from ramen to rice dishes. We tried the corn korokke, takoyaki, chicken katsu curry, and grilled salmon belly ochazuke. Each dish was well crafted and down right delicious. A must try spot if you are in the area and wish to try authentic Japanese food.

Shinmai is a nice cozy place. Staff were attentive and pleasant, seated immediately. There is a good sized menu, so you can find something for vegetarians too. Food came quickly, drinks were definitely refreshing. Will return to try out more menu items soon. A top restaurant in Cary for sure.

Bao bun with vegetable fritters was tasty. We really liked the shrimp Shumai appetizer. Saved one to have its last taste . My husband really liked the teriyaki chicken bento box . Chicken yuzu topped with additional shrimp was good too. Matcha Affogato ice cream was good, though the matcha was a little too strong of a flavor for our liking. Overall it was a nice experience in a cozy small spot and the service was great!

Unassuming ramen joint with its original location on the west coast. Truly enjoyed our meal here. Not a ton of seating but very well decorated and arranged inside. Broth was deep and flavorful for each soup, my favorite was the chicken yuzu ramen. Okonomiyaki was very tasty as well. Personally, one of our favorite ramen restaurants in the triangle area. Will be looking for an excuse to come back.
